Message from the Board of ACAP

Thank you for contacting ACAP in regards to your interest of becoming a claim assistance professional. Since the Time Magazine article, we have been inundated with request for information about the profession.

The Alliance of Claim Assistance Professionals requires well documented experience in the field. ACAP advocates worked many years in a medical office settings, hospital billing departments, or worked for a medical insurance company. Our members have proven knowledge of medical billing, coding and understand insurance policies. In addition to the experience requirement we request 3 referrals. Meeting these prerequisites is a must for all membership applications.

Being passionate about healthcare, solving some medical bill problems for yourself, your family member, friend, and neighbor do not qualify one to do this work professionally.

The Alliance of Claim Assistance Professionals does not provide training for new members. It requires the new member to fully understand CMS-1500, UB04, CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS, COB, MSP, and other health insurance related terminologies. You should not attempt to do this work, if you don't have the required experience.

Please do send us your application, if you meet the requirements; we will consider you for membership.
